My intention with my post on August 12th was not to deter anyone from buying or using the book GUT YOM TOV, it was rather to open a discussion. My question was on whether or not a picture of substances like Alcohol, Lchaim or not, is appropriate for a book intended for children.
After further research, I have counted a total of 5 pictures of people holding bottles of alcohol throughout the book. That's intentional. As well, in the introductory message from the author and publisher it states, "These are all special dates....when we celebrate with farbrengens and say lechaims" (p. 3).
Is having a farbrengen a separate event from saying Lchaim? Are there not other things we do to commemorate these events?
Once again, I implore you to provide your children with chassidishe experiences. This book can be used to open discussions and introduce yomim tovim to young children. The material throughout the book is good, the stories are accurate and well written and I still recommend this book to families.
